Day 45 – 09/04/2026

It was a reasonably long feeling day today, but one I could count as successful as I managed to get to all of the town centres in Redbridge, and Waltham Forest, respectively. I even made a pit-stop for breakfast at a nice cafe in Barkingside. They seemed pleasantly surprised to greet someone other than the evident usual customers; all of whom were also pretty polite.

I’d not been to Barkingside before, and in all honesty, I didn’t expect it to be as nice as it was, though it felt very suburban, considering its commutable proximity to the city centre (it’s east on the Central Line). This neck of the woods isn’t completely unknown to me, however – I went to primary school in Redbridge and grew up partly in Barking and Dagenham, and partly in Waltham Forest; so it quite literally was a trip down memory lane this morning, as I headed from Chadwell Heath up Green Lane, through Goodmayes, toward Seven Kings, and Ilford.

I set off pretty early again – 5am… it’s just my preferred time to get going, though now I am feeling it in terms of my energy levels, and my slightly aching feet; just achey enough to satisfy me for today anyway.
