I decided I would like to create a photographic series to display the model booth I built. I made a list of equipment I wanted to take to my first photo shoot, as well as a list of the photos I wanted to capture to ensure I would be prepared when I arrived to start taking photos promptly. My ideas were to showcase it in different locations, and if there were more time I would like to develop this idea further and select even more backdrops to accompany the bright white box, however, due to the consistent rain at this time of year the occasions I had to photograph the paper-made box in an outside environment were few.

Overall it was a pleasant experience going to photograph my work on location in Highbury Fields. It was peaceful at the part I chose to place my work, and I was very happy with the photographs as I checked them back. I wanted the scene/ day happening around the box to look calm, bright, and generally happy, as I would like to use them and play around with creating a poster/ front cover advertising the ‘kit’ as a product.

I decided to include dried pieces of primary coloured acrylic paint in the close-up photographs. This was initially a hypothetical scale experiment that I tried at home and liked the aesthetic of primary colours against stark white background, and so I took the same pieces with me to include in the on-location photographs.

I like the evident difference in size between the box and the trees in the background. I also find the green grass overlapping on the bottom edges of the white box and the door to be really pleasing on the eye, not only for the colours but the combination of nature and something so produced side by side.

The second time I photographed the booth I went to a local housing block near where I live. I wanted to get a photo of the booth beside the building for size comparison, to both make the booth appear small, but also to play around with my angles to make it seem bigger. I felt pretty committed to the task so I even laid on the floor to get the final shots. I didn’t necessarily feel out of place, as it was evident I was photographing something.

Personally, I enjoy urban photography, and the found patterns and shapes in architecture. A juxtaposition of shape and / or patterns was something I had in mind prior to photographing the work for a second time. I also experimented a little more with the aperture and shutter speeds on my camera, in attempt to capture the moodier weather that day.
If I had more time, I would like to continue a series of photographs of the booth in various locations, as well as also creating a new booth with images of my own bedroom printed on the insides. If I had more time still, I would potentially consider how to independently light the inside of the box, perhaps using battery LED lights.
