FMP – Proposal

Rationale

Throughout this course I have felt the context my work expand, and have worked often on socially-inspired projects. Previously, my work was very personal; having had so much focus on research during the FAD has inspired me to work with multiple perspectives in mind. This is something I have expressed over the various units of the course through work I have produced.  My found art, ‘Indices of Camden’ installation concept guided me to choose Fine Art as my pathway, feeling enamoured – creating experiences with, and for other people, and confident I could work to my own ideas and briefs.

Project Concept

Remember Something London’ will form as an archive of the city in the present moment, merged with people’s memories of experiences had in London. I’m aiming to create personal moments of reflection – for people contributing to my project through an anonymous questionnaire I have created using Google Forms, and eventually through each audience member’s engagement with the finalised outcome. For this reason I will primarily focus on how it will be formatted as I develop the project further, by experimenting with different disciplines and materials, such as photography or video, combined with illustration, painting, textiles, and / or digital art. In this way the project will be an obvious, visual collaboration of ideas and experiences.

I’m interested in exploring work by photographers’ such as Michael Wolf for his portrayal of busy city life, Joy Gregory – for the many processes she engages with throughout her work, and Nan Goldin, who’s work – The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, I saw at Gagosian in February 2026 and felt an inspiring sense of trust between photographer and subjects. That instinct inspires me to engage with members of the public; much as the podcast Strangers on a Bench – where host Tom Rosenthal sits with strangers and interviews them about whatever comes up. Each of the interviews listed seem to divulge into deeper conversation – I am interested in the psychology of trusted communication, and this is also something I wish to explore throughout my FMP, through interviews and responses to the questionnaire, and ultimately in what I create.

Evaluation

As my project involves the general public it’s necessary to ensure safety as priority. I will undertake risk assessments prior to holding public interviews, to remove potential hazards. This will include – ensuring my location is shared when I am conducting interviews, and developing a safe, respectful practice of communication between myself and others. In addition to risk assessments before interviews, I will undertake reflective practice as needed, or by minimum – at the end of each day collecting responses. This will inform adjustments that may need to be made to my process, including ethical considerations such as public safety and anonymity.
